Dow Jones is seeking a project manager to join a newly formed team, created as part of a strategic initiative that has identified some high growth opportunities for the organization.
The team’s overarching goal is to develop a new generation of knowledge products, powered by technologies such as graph databases, ML/AI and cloud computing, aimed at extreme information users, both internally (e.g. in our newsrooms and Data Strategy teams) and externally. The team will seek to interconnect and harness all data and content available to Dow Jones and help our customers make sense in near-real time of how news events are impacting their world.
This is a small organization so the ability to pivot and adapt on the fly, as well as willingness to learn and get one’s hands dirty -- including in areas beyond the original remit -- are all a must.
As part of a cross-functional agile team, you will plan, manage, and scope high level project initiatives into prioritized tasks to be completed in a set timeframe.
Spotting early on and minimizing potential risks that might delay the project completion.
Supporting Dow Jones technical cultural values and. The person must be capable of driving toward solutions independently, and seeking feedback when appropriate.
Prioritizing and managing work, adhering to critical project timelines in a fast-paced environment.
Assisting in the process of modifying the scope of a project to meet the quality requirements and deadlines agreed with stakeholders.
Defining the acceptance criteria and enforcing them.
Planning, and managing project timelines based on engineering capacity and organizational priorities. Allocating project resources to the highest priority work.
Ensuring project completion in set timeframe. Communicating, monitoring and tracking task completion to stakeholders.
Breaking down large initiatives into a prioritized task list, roadmap, and backlog for the resources and dept heads.
Participating in group discussions on a regular basis to facilitate cross-team, and stakeholder interaction.
1 - 3 years of experience in related field with proven successful demonstration of key responsibilities and knowledge.
Strong verbal and written communication skills in English are required. Fluent in Spanish is a big plus.
