At 130 years old, we have an amazing legacy but we’re young at heart.We know the secret to our growth ambition is through data. Having just recently announced the addition of a new Chief Data Officer (CDO) role, we are already looking to expand the centralized Data and Analytics team.

We’re looking for a VP-Growth & Data Products, who can help craft and launch new client facing data products for our existing and new consumers and businesses, and internal data products for better sales, marketing and management decision making.

You will report to the CDO, and will be responsible for building and executing the data-led products both for end consumers and internal stakeholders, to help enhance Dow Jones revenues while reducing cost of operations. You will define and quantify how efficient use of data can add value to various work-streams (including sales, marketing, product), and accordingly execute products to realize the value. In particular, you will be asked to develop a value led data execution framework that delivers data-led products over a 2 to 3 year roadmap, organizing and tracking cross-functional work efforts of engineering, product, and operations colleagues.

To do this job, you’ll need to be:

  • An excellent communicator – acting as a Data analytics Program Leader, you will be the bridge between the business and engineering arms of the organization. You must be able to communicate highly - technical details to senior business stakeholders, and phrase business goals in technical terms. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are a must.

  • Knowledgeable – in data-led solutions relating to B2B and B2C digital products, marketing, and services.

  • A supportive leader –flexible enough to coordinate with various involved teams, understand the constraints and nuances, and guide data led solutions to solve for value

  • Display a data-driven, systematic and analytical mindset that prefers measurable outcomes to hyperboles.

  • Have a minimum of 12 years’ experience working at the intersection of business and data with a technology focus.

  • Financial Service, Internet and Technology industry, Start-Up / entrepreneurship experience is a plus

Responsibilities for this role include:

  • Creating a framework on how data can be integrated into the operational capabilities of Dow Jones, aligning with leadership on the framework and then quantifying value expected from data-led capabilities approach

  • Identifying, developing and testing new data led products that can be taken to consumers or businesses for incremental sales

  • Architecting for data-led value and facilitating real time data led dashboards for quick and efficient management decision making

  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with senior leaders across the organization (Product, Operations, Commerce, etc) to identify data needs and possible opportunities for improved efficiency, scalability, or veracity, as well as potential new revenue streams.

  • Developing a roadmap that delivers data products for both internal stakeholders and clients, by organizing and tracking cross-functional work efforts of sales, marketing, engineering, product and operations colleagues.

  • Establishing and owning a portfolio of data driven projects and initiatives that power the product teams by integrating data solutions into their development roadmaps.

  • Optimizing the cost to use data, bringing in innovative solutions to make data team operations more efficient

Here are some things that we'd prefer to see, though none is independently a requirement:

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Experience in strategy and management consulting for technology / internet clients

  • Experience in value – led approach to drive large scale transformation projects

  • Experience as tech project, product or program manager involved in setting up new products / business units

  • Experience managing a team (either directly or indirectly)

  • Experience with working with senior leadership
