Dow Jones is looking for an Art Director for Special Projects to shape special and emerging projects. The ideal candidate can combine innovation and usability, elegantly solving problems for users while driving business value.
The Design Director for Special Projects will conceptualize strategy by giving it vision and a voice, contributing to the evolution of our products in both exploratory and immediately actionable work. This position requires both a great design eye and strong storytelling skills.
Provide creative thought leadership and new approaches across a wide range of projects
Conceptualize strategic ideas and set the design direction for special projects
Translate business objectives into inspiring user experiences
Explore and validate solutions by creating prototypes
Meet with stakeholders to get input and communicate strategies and solutions
Create deliverables that, depending on the project, may focus on site organization and structure, visual design, and storytelling
Ensure that the customer stays front and center in our solutions
Degree in design, computer science, human factors or equivalent work experience.
Design professional with 10 or more years of relevant work experience.
Strong strategic, conceptual skills and a deep knowledge of the digital landscape.
Demonstrated ability to design inspiring new solutions to challenges, often in collaboration with end users and stakeholders.
Proven experience evolving the design of established brands
Experience working with and designing for large-scale publishing, data-rich systems and emerging platforms.
Experience working with multiple types of users with different needs and goals.
Experience in user and screen flows, conceptual and detailed wireframing, and prototyping tools
Proven ability to deliver under tight deadlines
Outstanding brainstorming and collaboration skills.
Superior communication and reporting skills.
