Dow Jones is seeking a Business Manager for its Operations team. The Business Manager is responsible for bringing together the company's operations and employees to ensure productivity and effectiveness including implementing business strategies, evaluating company performance and aligning key initiatives across the business. The Business Manager reports to the SVP, Operations and will collaborate with leadership to manage and execute special projects and to provide business collaboration with budget and finance, human resources and operations. The Business Manager will work with senior leadership to plan, track and accelerate work across a broad portfolio by implementing and evolving processes for key projects. You will also coordinate recruiting efforts for the growing Experience team and assist the SVP, Operations to conceptualize, plan and execute broader Experience-wide programs and tasks.
Performs related responsibilities as required:
Organize and compile materials for staff meetings, town halls, off sites, quarterly meetings and executive briefings/communications
Track spending of capital projects and facilitate successful execution with the delivery teams
Help senior management make tactical and strategic decisions by preparing periodic reports and presentations
Partner with senior leadership to efficiently recruit the best talent for open roles, assisting with job descriptions, scheduling interviews, distributing interview materials, gathering feedback from interviewers, and onboarding new hires
Keep Finance, HR and other stakeholders fully abreast of all progress and ensure that company policies—including those relating to diversity, equity and inclusion—are followed by hiring managers
Work independently on assigned research tasks
Cross-functional responsibilities include planning, operational and budget management
Help create, update and maintain templates and business process
Drive a culture of continuous improvement
Establish and manage processes related to cross-functional team initiatives, including business continuity, training and people team programs
Own specific projects as defined
Maintain and develop relationships with any existing and new EAs and Business Managers
Ensure the team has sufficient resources such as personnel, material and equipment
Excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships
A bachelor’s degree in business administration or other related field.
5+ years of experience with an emphasis on project management and senior level executive support
Understanding of diverse business processes, including people management and finance operations - Ability to work collaboratively across the organization
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
Manage complex projects while remaining flexible and positive
Proven ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
Maintains high level of confidentiality
Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
Airtable administration experience a plus
Proficient in Google suite
Interest in media, communications and technology preferred
