Be part of The Wall Street Journal’s Product, Design and Engineer group. The group is seeking an experienced Senior Product Manager to work with our internal commercial, editorial and technology teams and external commercial partners to guide the Product strategy for our professional products.
Role and Expectations:
Formulate and execute the product vision for our digital products for WSJ Pro, C-Suite vertials and other new products designed to serve the specialized needs of business and financial professionals. c-suite and business professionals.
Work directly with external commercial partners to communicate the product vision and roadmap while understanding their objectives and target audience.
Assesses market competition by comparing the company's product to competitors' products.
Collaborate with Analytics teams to ensure necessary metrics tracking and reporting needed to measure progress towards Objectives and Key Results. Be able to identify trends in customer behavior across digital channels.
Assess weekly, monthly and quarterly reports for editorial and commercial partners with commentary and analysis of product usage and audience reach trends and the product roadmap impact on the trends.
Manage enhancement requests and product support directly from commercial partners.
Develop the product roadmap and agree on appropriate prioritization, working with commercial Product leads, UX and Design, in partnership with our Dow Jones Engineering teams based in New York, Princeton, Minneapolis and Hong Kong.
Ensure that execution and vision are aligned and address questions or concerns that arise due to client requests, prioritizations or other business challenges. Communicate clearly and quickly any conflicts, questions or concerns about development, feature requests, or timelines.
Communicate business objectives with development team and work to develop effective solutions that scale and translate across The Wall Street Journal digital and Dow Jones digital ecosystem.
Write user stories and coordinate with editorial Engineering, UX and Design teams on requirements and delivery.
Work in agile scrum framework including sprints, sprint reviews, retrospectives and grooming sessions. Conduct Sprint Planning and Pre-Planning, including background work, design and research to write robust user stories, including edge cases. Architect the process that works for the team, and lead team to adhere to it faithfully.
Work with teams to problem solve, jointly brainstorming solutions that meet business needs and make sense within the product and engineering constraints.
Quarterly presentation of Objectives and Key Results of the Professional Product Strategy to the company.
Be the voice of quality control for UX, design and engineering.
Be present and responsive to team and client needs, concerns and changes in direction.
Provide cohesive leadership and clear, effective communication and conflict resolution for the team.
Strong communication and collaboration skills
5+ years of experience leading product development for mobile or web applications
Strong understanding of the latest technical standards and digital product best practices in usability and iterative product development
Comfortable in a fast-paced, highly-dynamic environment with multiple stakeholders
Expert ability in managing and prioritizing product roadmaps and backlogs
