We’re looking for you to:
Design, develop and test web applications for The Wall Street Journal.
Play an active role in the product development process, and help set technical direction and long-term strategy for future initiatives.
Have keen product sense and know when a feature works and when it can be improved.
Write clean code, participate in code reviews, talk about code, advocate best practices, and facilitate technical discussions to ensure solving problems in concert.
We’d like you to have:
7+ years of experience working in a production environment.
Comfortable leading and mentoring a team of engineers as well as working hands-on throughout project delivery.
A strong technical foundation and experience building user interfaces and single page applications.
Experience with AWS Cloud services like EC2, Cloudfront, Lambda and DynamoDB.
Experience building RESTful or GraphQL APIs and web services, and familiarity with API design for highly scalable services.
Experience writing unit tests with Jest/Enzyme or equivalent tools
Experience writing internal documentation and system flow charts to keep the team informed.
Strong interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate cross functionally with designers, product managers, engineers, QA and operations.
Positive, optimistic approach and the ability to work well as part of a broader team/organization.
