Job Description:
The Wall Street Journal is looking for a Product Designer to join the WSJ Design team. Like all our designers and researchers, your responsibility is to the user. You will empathize with and thoroughly understand the goals, desires, and preferences of the target users. As a member of our growing product organization, you'll work alongside researchers, product managers, engineers, other designers, and editors to improve and innovate the audio and video experiences across all WSJ products; including website and apps. You'll work with the fundamental building blocks of our interface, from typography to imagery to interactivity. You’ll also measure and improve our product through customer feedback.

Responsibilities
Design and deliver product specifications for WSJ web and app experiences with a focus on audio and video products, including the player interface
Collaborate with Video & Audio product manager to define objectives and key results for video and audio products
Work closely with product manager, engineers, UX researchers, and editors to implement and deliver final products
Work with other members of the product design team to maintain consistent interface patterns across all WSJ products and brand experiences
Advocate and evolve design’s role within the organization and its product development processes
Outputs include: Interface Mockups, Design Presentations, Sketch Files, Clickable Prototypes, Style Guides, and UI kits
Requirements
5+ years experience crafting user interfaces for content-rich websites
In-depth understanding of modern web technology and the latest accessibility standards
Proficiency with Sketch, Abstract, InVision, and other design & prototyping tools
Comfortable working in a fast-paced and highly dynamic environment
Ability to clearly articulate ideas and concepts both written and verbally
Comprehensive understanding of typography and layout principles
Familiarity with agile product development practices
Additional Requirements (Not Mandatory)
Experience working on audio and video products (including news and digital publications)
An understanding of UI best-practices and user behavior in the context of monetized digital products
