Dow Jones Head of Networks in PRINCETON, New Jersey

Job Description:

Position is for Head of Networking to work in Shared Technology Services (STS). STS supports different business units within Dow Jones, which includes Consumer, Commerce, Professional Information Business and Enterprise and across News Corp.

This position will lead and manage the team responsible for networks, and is responsible for the design, installation, configuration, operation, maintenance, integrity & security of the corporate data and voice networks with expertise leading and operating IT Projects and enterprise security (firewall administration, network routing,) The network is a mix of Internet, MPLS, and private circuits spanning 40 countries across 5 Data Centers and numerous Amazon and Google Cloud regions.

This is an senior leader who will be managing a team of 25+ composed of Network Engineers and 24x7 Network Operations.

Candidate is responsible for driving 5 key initiatives

  • Migration of MPLS to Internet Based Networks

  • Advanced Networking Monitoring of both DataCenter and WAN connectivity.

  • Ensure our Change and Deployment process enable agility in the cloud

  • Optimize the Cloud Operations for Cost and Security

  • Continue to simplify End to end user experience from devices to collaboration with self-service

In-depth knowledge of ITIL processes, VMWare, NetApp arrays, DB technologies and AWS is preferred.

  • Design and build scalable, available, cost effective, and securearchitectures.

  • Drive the evolution of infrastructure, processes, products, andservices by working with stakeholders.

  • Compile, develop, and deliver architectural guardrails; ensure adoption of architectural patterns while supporting the needs of product teams to launch products and services.

  • Assist in periodic architectural and project design reviews.

  • Provide hands-on support, technical direction, and mentoring to engineers.

  • Manage Networks/Telecom Spend

  • Create clear documentation that specify strategy, assessment, or design in a way that delivers value to stakeholders.

  • 15+ years of overall IT leadership and technical architecture experience, managing 20+ employees in conjunction with large outsourced teams

  • 8+ years’ experience as a network engineer with experience in planning and designing robust, scalable networksSuperior oral and written communication, customer service, organizational and problem solving skills are requiredIn depth knowledge of operating systems such as Cisco IOS, NX-OS, AireOS, and Palo Alto Network PAN-OS; network protocols such as BGP, OSPF, PFR, etc.

  • Strong ITIL knowledge and change management experience

  • Solid understanding of modern web application architecture, complex cloud network topologies, and security.

  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically about business, product, and technical challenges.

  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.

  • Proven project management experience and understanding of network design models

  • Professional level certifications such as CCNP and CCDP desired

  • Coding experience is very desirable

  • Network performance analytical skills and experience are very desirable
