The Wall Street Journal’s Professional Products Engineering team is seeking an experienced software engineer to work alongside business stakeholders, product owners, designers, and developers to build products designed to serve the specialized needs of business and financial professionals.
Understands and practices agile software development and management
Defines and implements application architecture models and programming standards with direction setting support.
Lead a passionate team of web engineers based in Princeton and Hong Kong
Design, develop, test and deploy web applications for The Wall Street Journal Professional Products
Partners effectively with product to manage scope and deliverables for the technical side of the product roadmap for our digital products for WSJ Pro, C-Suite vertials and other new products designed to serve the specialized needs of business and financial professionals. c-suite and business professionals
Work closely with business stakeholders, designers, data scientists, product managers and other engineers to build innovative solutions
Communicate objectives with the development team and work to develop effective solutions that scale and translate across The Wall Street Journal digital and Dow Jones digital ecosystem.
Help set technical direction and long-term strategy for future initiatives.
Play an active role in the product development process.
Keep an eye on technical innovations and changing trends in the digital landscape.
Extensive development experience is a must and a desire to learn new languages and operate across all platforms is essential.
Experience leading a team with Agile methodologies.
A strong background in software engineering and computer science fundamentals.
Familiarity with API design for highly scalable services.
A natural curiosity and desire to understand and contribute to the entire technology stack.
Strong understanding of software best-practices as it applies to web development
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Experience with cloud computing via AWS or another cloud provider
Ability to prioritize and manage work
A self-starter that is able to collaborate actively with others in a cross-functional team or work independently
